Reason #8: Comparatively better ratings

Becoming a new show and taking the place of predecessor show, such as The Clone Wars, is no easy task. First season is about laying down the foreplan for the plot and your characters. If a second season is possible, it should be more on developing the characters even further as the plot builds on what was originally resolved before.

Using the ratings, we can see from a statistical point of view how many people continued watching the show on a regular basis. Did the show develop its characters and plot well enough for people to want to keep watching?

Star Wars: The Clone Wars, overall score is 8.4.

Star Wars: Rebels scored an 8.1.

As a new series, Star Wars: Rebels has the potential to grow.

The difference between the shows are 0.3.

By the numbers, Star Wars: The Clone Wars is rated higher.

*Note: There has been no reviews / TomatoeMeter on Season 2-5 for The Clone Wars

*Note: The x-axis is in terms of seasons of each show.

SW: Rebels -- First Season

TomatoeMeter of 100% and 84% on audience score

SW: The Clone Wars -- First Season

TomatoeMeter 89% and 77% on audience score.

The first season of Rebels by RottenTomatoe’s count, obliterates The Clone Wars, yet as time goes on, the story changes.  With each season of The Clone Wars, the audience score increases significantly, while Star Wars Rebels have made minimal improvement.

SW: The Clone Wars -- Season 6

TomatoMeter of 100% and audience score (of provided half season) of 94%.

Perhaps there is argument to be made about the TomatoMeter rating and the difference between the audience score, but needless to say, the audience truly did enjoy The Clone Wars.

With the exception of season 2, The Clone Wars increases in ratings significantly after each season.

  • Demonstrates the significance and value of the show from ratings.

  • SW Rebels has potential, but in comparison to TCW, it has a long way to go

  • The Clone Wars shows significant growth with each season with each reviewing site, improving at an exponential rate

  • By this logic, if the show had been allowed to continued, it would have continued to grow and develop as a series, while also gathering a strong following

By Season 5, there had been no evidence of the show slowing down or decreasing in quality, the ratings and views were also increasing as the show continued
