Any series starting off on the air takes time to develop its characters, backstories, and more importantly, the plot. With the birth of the Clone Wars in 2008, the show started off and maintained high ratings and viewership throughout its whole first season.

This trend would continue with each season, as the animation, plot and character development got better with each episode.  To be on the air for three seasons is great, but for five seasons and still maintain it’s viewership is momentous.

The show also had two and half seasons left to go before it was prematurely cancelled. Those seasons would have likely been successful as well.

As it follows with show popularly, the merchandise also did well in sales. The show was able to help Hasbro generate $510 million dollars in 2010, the highest in a non movie year.

With all the success, it was no wonder why the show was so loved and decorated with awards.

Over its past five seasons, The Clone Wars was nominated 68 times and won 23 awards. Some examples are and not limited to:

  • Outstanding Special Class Animated Program” two years in a row (2013-2014)

  • Best Sound Editing

  • Outstanding Performer in Animated Program

The biggest form of recognition was when they were nominated for “Best Animated TV Series” by IGN. They would be nominated for every year they were running and would win it officially in 2013.

Being nominated for this category every year since it’s production just goes on to show how consistent and sensational this was.

LucasFilm really poured their heart for this show and the awards show how much of a quality show it really was. If they had been allowed to continue, their quality of work should have continued and the awards they have won would have increased.

We won’t know until they return for sure.

While we can look back and relish the show’s growth in becoming a the new standard for animation, we can look towards the future and unite other clone wars fans together and take these reasons to Disney
